6 layer pcb Gerber checklist: prepare a clear fabrication release

A fabrication package should allow the reviewer to identify every layer and the intended finished board without guessing. Review the exported data in an independent viewer before submission.

Include the essential data

• Six copper layers with a clear top-to-bottom layer map
• Solder-mask and legend files where required
• A defined board outline and any internal cutouts
• Drill files with plated and non-plated definitions
• A fabrication drawing with material, finish and acceptance notes

Check agreement between files

Confirm units, origin, scale and registration. Verify that drawing dimensions agree with the outline. Avoid sending obsolete revisions in the same archive or naming unrelated files as the final version.

Document controlled requirements

Record finished thickness, copper assumptions, impedance targets and construction restrictions. An optional BOM does not replace fabrication information; assembly also requires placement and component-specific instructions.

Package and protect

Use a descriptive revision identifier. Exclude passwords and unrelated files. Convert RAR to ZIP, and use the stated attachment limits. If an NDA is needed, discuss the requirement before sharing sensitive design files.
